UcanGo2: Connections – April 2026 – Breaking FAFSA News

FAFSA Real-Time Processing

At the March Federal Student Aid Training Conference, it was announced that real-time processing is coming to the FAFSA. By summer 2026, nearly all students who submit a FAFSA will be able to immediately know whether their application has been successfully processed, view their confirmed Student Aid Index (SAI) and Pell Grant eligibility, and begin the correction process and see corresponding SAI changes, if necessary. This is big news for students completing the FAFSA as they prepare to make important decisions about their future.

 APRIL SPOTLIGHT

Understanding Aid Offers

The FAFSA opened on Oct. 1, and students who’ve already submitted their applications should start seeing their college financial aid offers any time now. At UCanGo2.org, we’re here to help you and your parents know exactly what to look for when those offers come in — so you don’t miss out on the aid you may be eligible to receive.

Your Financial Aid Offer

To help students and parents, Federal Student Aid provides an article titled How to Evaluate Your Aid Offers. This article will help you understand what you’re being offered, how to prioritize which aid to accept, and what you should do if additional funds are necessary to cover your educational expenses. If you still have questions, students are encouraged to contact the financial aid office at their future college or career technology center to make sure they have all the information needed to make these decisions.

Are You Looking for Money?

Once you’ve completed the FAFSA and reviewed the financial aid offers from your preferred schools, you might find that you still need a bit more assistance paying for college. If so, be sure to check out Are You Looking for Money? This helpful guide breaks down the types of federal and state financial aid available, how each one works, and how awards are determined.

You’ll also receive the Scholarship Success Guide, which includes links to trusted scholarship websites for even more opportunities. Don’t forget, students should keep applying for scholarships each year of college to find free money that can help cover future costs.

State Aid

Your financial aid offer won’t include just federal aid — Oklahoma also provides several state‑funded programs for eligible students. If you’re planning to attend a college, university or career technology center in Oklahoma, you may qualify for one of the programs listed on our State Aid Programs chart.

We’re here to support students and families with clear, practical guidance — at no cost.
